Battery-Area-2

CAPS Systems provide turnkey battery handling solutions to many blue-chip companies, battery and original equipment manufacturers.  Starting with a basic range of innovatively designed roller beds and charger mounting solutions, progressing up to a range of powered battery changing systems.

In the age of the 24/7 economy, truck availability and flexibility are becoming more critical in the materials handling proposition. Effective rotation of batteries on electric trucks is essential to offer this flexibility and availability. CAPS Systems are solely dedicated to providing effective battery handling solutions including ventilation, electrics and mechanical installation to suit this need, provided by our own qualified electrical team, CAPS are accredited with the Safe Contractors certificate.

Chris Smith, Managing Director of CAPS Systems said “don’t make the battery and charge area an afterthought.” Consideration is not only for the numbers of batteries, and power capacity but the efficient storage of the spare battery and the safe and efficient battery change method, charger siting and mounting. Big improvements in truck design (i.e. side extraction) has helped in this need. With this in mind, CAPS can offer numerous solutions of battery change systems and equipment with battery roller beds and charger stands, ranging from manual to a powered system, from single level to multi-level. CAPS offer a complete turnkey proposition.

“CAPS’ key principals,” says Chris Smith are

A: to understand the customer’s needs,

B: design an effective solution in a detailed plan,

C: provide the correct equipment and

D: deliver and install the solution.”

CAPS recognise the importance of an efficient, well planned battery area which is well ventilated and safe. With this in mind, CAPS offer a bespoke 3D planning and simulation program for all installations.

Some existing battery rooms are neglected and can be inefficient. Therefore, we have been successful with our Battery Room Health Check, assessing the efficiency of the operation, the best utilisation of space, whether the area meets regulations and its safety, making the battery change and charge area a more cost effective and safer environment.

Using the CAPS’ four key principals, Chris Smith says that “the company is dedicated to further research into design and implementation of battery handling needs coupled together with efficient and effective battery room design and provision of inspection and service giving these installations a long and useful working life.”
