Until the recession hit home, rising property values, as well as heating, lighting and maintenance were the major factors in the increasing cost of operating a warehouse. However with today’s economic challenges there are even more problems to overcome. Businesses throughout the UK have been forced to streamline their operations resulting in the closure of many of their warehouses and production facilities. This in turn has led to an increased number of companies trying to consolidate their operations under one roof, quite often with expensive building extensions. This is the time to Bend rather than Spend!

A Bendi will operate in an aisle width of 1.6m – less than half of what it would take to operate a conventional 2000kg counterbalance truck and significantly less than the 2.8 to 3m needed by a reach truck. A very narrow aisle truck (VNA) will operate in a similar aisle but there are other considerations, both operational and cost, that could make VNA a less appealing proposition. Floor condition is the first consideration as VNA requires “super flat floors” if they are going to perform to their optimum speed safely. Expensive guidance is also required, along with additional forklifts and operators as VNA is not suitable outside of the racked area.

So if you need to make the most out of the space available without incurring significant add-on costs, the Bendi articulated forklift is the obvious choice. The Bendi can double the storage capacity or halve the area needed to store goods or it could offer increased area for production facility. Whichever way you look at it, a Bendi results in less trucks and increased productivity, which in turn means huge cost savings and why Simon Brown, MD of Bendi, is keen to promote their ‘Warehouse Planning facility’.

“Before you consider extending your building, or moving to new premises, talk to us,” says Simon. “The Bendi team is on hand to offer advice on racking and storage systems for Warehouse, Distribution and Manufacturing operations and provide a comprehensive Warehouse Planning Service including site layout diagrams and capacity calculations. We have had some great results converting existing operations and it’s worth giving us a call before looking at expensive extensions or moving to new premises”

So when you need to save money, double your storage capacity, increase your production area, maximise profits or increase productivity it pays to look at a great British company – Bendi.
