thorlux-logoThorlux is well known throughout the world and provides a comprehensive range of professional lighting and control systems for architectural, commercial, floodlighting, industrial, hazardous area and tunnel applications

Energy saving systems have been a key focus for the last 15 years and Thorlux can now offer an extensive range of lighting controls and high technology LED luminaires alongside highly efficient conventional light source solutions for lighting warehouses.

The new Solow LED is our premium grade LED luminaire designed to give the lowest through life cost by keeping energy and maintenance costs low. The addition of our advanced Thorlux Smart technology ensures LEDs are only powered when desired and when on are optimised to provide the correct light level and corresponding power demand. The environmentally friendly aluminium body has been specifically designed to cool sensitive electronic parts and provides a target life expectancy of 100,000 hours. Cooling fins maximise the surface area and being made from extruded aluminium it contains fewer impurities than cast equivalents, providing the best cooling efficiency. The luminaire is anodised for corrosion resistance and powder coated black to improve its thermal emissivity reducing component temperatures by as much as 20°C. The cooling fins face downwards to avoid dust collection ensuring excellent performance is maintained throughout the lifetime of the product.

The Thorlux Smart system combines the latest ‘Digital Technology’ to provide a simple, effective method of lighting control which minimises energy consumption whilst retaining high levels of user functionality and comfort. A discrete sensor integral to the luminaire monitors ambient light and presence to control output to the correct level and to ensure that the area is only illuminated when occupied. Savings by the installation of automatic lighting control systems can exceed 70%.

Thorlux is committed to minimising the environmental impact of both its manufacturing processes and products and the company’s innovative carbon offsetting scheme has recently been accredited by the Welsh Assembly Government to the Woodland Carbon Code in Wales, an independent standard to certify woodland creation projects that are designed to measure and account for the capture and storage of carbon.
