Britain’s leading independent forklift supply and service company, Briggs Equipment is set to strengthen its position in Scotland following the appointment of a new sales manager.

Craig Davenport now leads Briggs’ sales team for Yale Europe Materials Handling in Scotland after joining the company from the Carrylift Group, a company he first joined 12 years ago.

During his career, the former semi-professional footballer has also worked for BT, Scottish Power and Douglas Gillespie Plant after spending his teens as an apprentice for a leading SPL club.

Now the 34-year-old says he is looking forward to a fresh challenge as he looks to help drive Briggs to the top of the league when it comes to providing premier products and services.

“By supplying customers with Yale equipment and – following the recent acquisition of Barloworld – Hyster products, Briggs has a very strong offering backed by a top flight service and support network,” Craig explains.

“With a boom in the oil industry and a thriving food and drinks industry, Scotland offers Briggs a wealth of opportunities for growth and I’m excited at the prospect of helping the company become the country’s leading player in the forklift industry.”

On Craig’s appointment, Billy Allison, Briggs’ Scotland regional manager, adds: “His enthusiasm and knowledge of this dynamic market will prove a real asset to our operations in Scotland and I’m delighted to welcome him to our team.”
