Allport the leading fashion air freight forwarder, have recently installed a new Colmac, ‘Wizard’- CFS 300, narrow-body, garment finishing and pressing tunnel at their Heathrow freight centre, supplied and commissioned by Polymark GB Ltd, based in Daventry, Nothants, UK, the UKM Importers and Distributors for Colmac Industries Inc, USA.

Allport have been providing air freight supply chain and pre-retail processing solutions to the fashion industry for fifty years. Their extensive global brand and retailer client list gives full testimony to their worldwide abilities and commitment to all their customers.

Probably the UK’s leading fashion forwarder, Allport provide Customs clearance, transport from airside to the freight centre’s central warehouse and the unpacking, inspection, pressing, tagging, hanging and poly wrapping, of the thousands of garments which pass through this 150,000 Sq.Ft facility, on a daily/weekly basis.

Garment inspection and processing is performed in a dedicated, 65,000 Sq.Ft mezzanine area where high value garments are stored in a gated and internally shielded, storage compound while awaiting delivery call-off.

The Colmac Wizard 300 has been installed in a cleared space to optimise handling, which means that many technical features of the system are clearly visible.

Lee Milner, Allport’s Operations Manager commented on the Wizard 300 System: ‘We were searching for an upgraded garment tunnel which reflected modern ideas and features and were particularly impressed by the fact that this System required absolutely no boiler installation or associated pipework for carrying the Steam supply.

The Colmac Wizard series has built-in steam generation ability, powered in our case by electricity. Locally delivered steam generation is a real advantage to us as not only because we can easily re-position the Wizard System, but because there is also a significant cost saving by not having a boiler to supply the steam.

We also avoid annual inspection downtime, insurance costs and pipework maintenance. It also means that when we switch on, the system is up and running very quickly and is completely free from any other competing demands for steam supply elsewhere.’

‘The Colmac Wizard is easy to use and, as garments pass through from right to left in a single line,  they are immediately ready for post pressing routines in tagging and packing. The footprint requirement of the system is only 4.5 M by 1.5M – a very compact solution which is very economical in operation,’

‘At Allport, we pride ourselves on our ability to turn customer requests into delivered promises very quickly. The Colmac Wizard does everything we ask of it now and – as we can readily extend its capacity at any time with add-on modules – future demands for our services in garment handling.’
