Automated warehouse solution provider TGW Logistics Group, has announced the completion of three major installations in the U.S.
PETCO Animal Supplies Inc. partnered with TGW Systems to design and implement a materials handling system in its new 506,000 sq ft distribution centre in Braselton, Georgia. The solution can handle a wide variety of products and can process an estimated 5 million units per month for store replenishment as well as direct-to-consumer orders.
In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the world’s leading provider of investment castings Signicast, selected TGW to supply two separated automated material handling systems for the company’s facilities.
These are centred around two Mustang Evolution automated mini-load storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS). One is being used for heat-treated parts and the other as a shipping buffer for finished goods.
Furthermore TGW has installed an automated material handling system for Tognum America in the company’s new MTU parts logistics centre in Detroit.
MTU is one of the world’s leading brands of large diesel engines and complete propulsion systems for a multitude of applications, such as marine, power generation, heavy-duty vehicles and rail vehicles.
The project was part of a move to a new 395,000 sq ft parts distribution centre that now services all North American operations, fulfilling customer orders of diesel products, components and spare parts. TGW managed to meet Tognum America’s tight timeline for the installation – going from contract signing to being fully operational in less than seven months.
Automation solutions continue to evolve, both in the complexity of the solution and of the knowledge required to operate them.
