Kara Pyne – Century Logistics Ltd
Kara was nominated by her managing director, Stephen Basey-Fisher, who said: “Kara has a positive ‘can do’ attitude and truly leads by example – whether its setting up product shoots within the warehouse or helping establish e-solutions procedures for new clients. Her many attributes have earned Kara the respect of her colleagues and clients alike.”
Kara originally joined Century as an after sales service administrator on a maternity cover contract but her outstanding work ethic quickly identified her as someone with the potential to advance and she was duly offered a permanent position within the business.
Stephen Basey-Fisher added: “Kara encourages other members of staff to push beyond their roles and exceed expectations. She influences her team and has initiated processes that have led to increases in efficiency. I feel she is a perfect Candidate for the UKWA Young Employee of the Year Award.”
Jamie Bonwick – Boughey Distribution
Jamie was one of four warehouse apprentices taken on by Boughey in September 2011. While all four apprentices have settled in to the company well, Jamie’s performance has been the most notable.
“He has taken each and every opportunity presented to him and demonstrated outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and professionalism,” said Bernard Murphy, Boughey’s Warehouse Director.
Jamie has completed his NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing and Storage to an extremely high standard – in fact, by meeting each target and KPI set for him, he completed the NVQ early.
In light of his excellent performance, Jamie was selected to complete a secondment at Boughey’s busy traffic desk where his efforts prompted glowing reports from his colleagues and members of the management team.
“Jamie is a very reliable and likeable young man who is a credit to the apprenticeship scheme. He works with great enthusiasm and skill, shows a keen willingness to learn and a refreshing attitude. He is a pleasure to work with,” added Bernard Murphy.
Joanne Dolan – Paul Ponsonby Ltd
Joanne graduated from De Montford University with a degree in Advertising and Marketing before joining Paul Ponsonby in a sales development role. However, her duties were soon changed to embrace both sales and marketing functions.
In her first year alone she recruited nine new accounts, redesigned the company’s website and compiled competitor analysis and market positioning reports.
Joanne has continued to impress the company’s directors with her willingness and ability to take on a wide range of positions within the business. “Joanne has established herself as a valuable member of our team and has assisted the directors in a host of additional tasks that are not specifically in her job role,” said Linda Wildman, a Paul Ponsonby Ltd Director.
She added: “Furthermore, Joanne has fantastic relationships with all of her customers. On the rare occasions when there is a problem, Joanne sorts it out immediately. Her customers call her directly if they have any issues – which is something that I feel clearly demonstrates Joanne’s ability to build relationships and maintain high levels of communication.”
