FHG, Europe’s largest pallet producer and second largest pallet pooling supplier, has won a Green award for its sustainable pallets from De Telegraaf, the Netherlands largest daily newspaper. The pallet manufacturer was ranked third in the second annual greenest company in the Netherlands awards, as decided by a judging panel from a shortlist of De Telegraafs Top 100 Green Companies.

Ingrid Faber, CEO of FHG, said: This prize is a huge honour for our company. We feel it is important to make a contribution to society via sustainable pallets and a socially responsible production process. It is good to see our efforts being recognised in this way.

In addition to responsible production, FHG believes it is important for the production chain to also be environmentally sustainable. When a pallet reaches the end of its life cycle, the wood is used for other purposes such as in the production of chipboard, biomass or bio-energy generation. The pallet manufacturer thus creates a continuous loop in its pallet-pooling activities. Pooling allows pallets to be re-used and also reduces the number of transport journeys.

The wood that FHG uses for its pallets originates from sustainably managed forests and is PEFC-certified. Through its subsidiary, Easypal, FHG is also able to offer paper pallets. These pallets are produced in an environment-friendly way from recycled paper. After use, they can simply be recycled by placing them next to used paper for refuse collection.
