Cold Move, specialists in temperature controlled storage and distribution have chosen Toyota Material Handling UK to provide warehouse trucks to support their operation.

Cold Move has taken delivery of a new fleet of warehouse trucks designed for working in cold store environments.

With three depot locations in the North West, Cold Move are able to offer specialist services in the temperature controlled storage and distribution sector including; 48 thousand pallet spaces in their state-of-the-art frozen warehouse, blast freezing and specialist distribution throughout the UK.

The new fleet includes BT Reflex reach trucks and BT Levio powered pallet trucks. The BT Reflex reach trucks are fitted with cold store cabs which are carefully designed to provide an effective working environment fully insulated from the cold conditions. The BT Levio ride-on powered pallet trucks feature a platform and fixed backrest which offers increased protection for the operator.

Mike Lythgoe, operations director at Cold Move explains:  “During extensive competitive trials we found the BT Reflex reach truck with cold store cab surpassed our expectations in terms of design, innovation, all round visibility and overall quality compared to the other trucks we trialled. The improved specification on the ride-on powered pallet trucks with fixed backrests, powered steering and battery change capability are also helping us to improve our productivity”.

Graham Wilkinson, national accounts manager, Toyota Material Handling UK, explains: “The cost of handling and storing goods are particularly high in cold storage operations. At Toyota we have a long history and experience working in low temperature operations and by working closely with Cold Move, we have used that experience to help them drive down cost in their business”.
