Expect Distribution Ltd

Neil Rushworth, Expect Distribution’s operations director, had no hesitation in putting forward his colleagues for this award after the company completed a move to a new £9m facility at the heart of the motorway network in West Yorkshire. The move has enabled Expect to offer a range of additional services to clients which, in turn resulted in outstanding levels of growth and profitability in 2010. However, this was only possible due to the efforts of the employees involved in the day to day running of the warehousing operation.

Edwards Transport (Shropshire) Ltd

The warehouse team at Edwards is described Leigh Brown, the company’s head of warehousing, as enthusiastic and committed. Made up of only six full timers and one part time worker, the team has increased Edwards’ warehousing turnover by 15 per cent in the last financial year and handled double the number of loads year on year.

Century Logistics – Dorel contract team

The Dorel contract team at Century Logistics achieved a major warehouse move for its large and dynamic client without any fall in customer satisfaction or a single service disruption. While handling the transfer of over 5,000 pallets per month to the new site, the team continued receiving at least 30 containers and dispatched in excess of 2,000 orders per week. To facilitate all this and ensure the original building was vacated in sufficient time to allow Century to undertake dilapidations work, the team worked extraordinarily long hours. In the words of Century’s operations manager, Harry Bell, “they were a credit to themselves and the company by ensuring timelines were met.”
