Founded in 1984, Nightfreight is a UK market leader in the combination of express delivery services it offers – from single parcels and non-standard freight, two-man home delivery, a specialist ‘white glove’ service and contract logistics – employing 2,500 staff across 50 depots nationwide.
As the result of growth achieved over the last few years, and the introduction of more efficient double-deck trailers, Nightfreight identified the need for more undercover space for their logistical operations at their central ‘Hub’ based in the West Midlands. With the cost for a traditional, permanent structure proving to be prohibitive, the company began a dialogue with Spaciotempo, the UK’s leading provider of temporary and semi-permanent structures for industry.
A site visit and several consultations later, Spaciotempo was able to recommend a canopy structure that would assist Nightfreight to provide protection to goods from inclement weather conditions when carrying out loading and unloading operations.
The specification was to be of sufficient size to accommodate the large double decker trailers used by Nightfreight, thus an unobstructed eaves height of 7m and building dimensions of 25m x 25m were supplied. With durable side walls, a super strength upvc roof and anodised aluminium building frame, the canopy was supplied as a full turnkey package that included full lighting and guttering systems and was installed to fully meet British standards for wind and snow loading; equivalent to a permanent building.
Spaciotempo has subsequently supplied more canopies to Nightfreight depots in Southampton and Basildon to assist with local operations.
