International Food Link (IFL), which offers logistics and value-added services for the catering and restaurant sector, welcomed London-based SMEs to its Basildon head office as part of the Exportese Food & Drink programme, offered in partnership with UK Trade & Investment.
The visitors, a group of food manufacturers and suppliers, toured IFL’s security and health authority-approved warehousing facilities and held one-to-one meetings with Ray Horton, IFL managing director.
The purpose of the event, which took place on December 7, was to provide an insight into the challenges of international food service distribution. IFL also offered tips on how restaurants and franchisees can simplify their logistics operations.
Ray Horton, IFL managing director, said: “Our long experience as a supplier of many different products allowed us to provide our visitors with multi-faceted advice on international trade, franchise management, international regulations and global logistics issues.
“We were able to offer an insight into how the restaurant business is developed internationally and how the supply chain mechanism is managed and sustained.”
IFL has worked with some of the world’s leading fast food restaurants and casual dining chains since 1984. Its brief is to manage the safe and cost-efficient supply of restaurant items of all types, to and from over 60 countries worldwide.
As part of its service, IFL offers the safe shipment of chilled and frozen items. Its dedicated UK warehouse incorporates special packing and protection facilities for temperature-sensitive shipments, ensuring no disruption to customers’ “cool chains”.
The company boasts a team with an excellent knowledge of global food legislation, offering an unrivalled logistics service to franchisors, franchisees and suppliers.
IFL is part of The Woodland Group, which is an independent, privately-held freight forwarding and logistics services provider, based in Essex, UK.
