The 44 page full colour catalogue features products from the UK’s widest range of loading bay and materials handling equipment, safety aids and accessories from a single source; all designed to enhance efficiency and safety, and reduce costs in and around the loading bay – and it naturally includes some of the company’s latest innovations such as an environmentally friendly, energy saving, longer lasting LED dock lamp.
The new low energy LED lamp can be used with Thorworld’s existing Standard Plus Dock Light as an alternative to traditional 80 watt bulbs. The 12 watt LEDs have a similar level of lumens as traditional lights, resulting in an energy saving of approximately 75%. What’s more, they offer at least a ten-fold increase in life expectancy.
The new bulb is just the latest in a long line of ground-breaking products from Thorworld, such as the (patent pending) Sliding Nylon Dock Bumper launched earlier in 2010. Featuring a heavy-duty black powder-coated steel frame, which is fixed to sound concrete or steelwork on the loading dock, this houses a solid block of nylon and a unique fixing method enables the incorporation of a thick, heavy duty rubber packer at the rear to ensure maximum shock absorption.
The innovative sliding design means that each nylon bumper insert can be turned upside-down and back-to-front to ensure even wear. This in turn extends its lifespan by as much as four times that of a traditional nylon dock bumper and significantly more than that for conventional rubber dock bumpers.
For those without a dedicated loading bay area or raised loading dock, Thorworld is a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of standard and bespoke modular loading docks and mobile yardramps.
There are three main Thorworld mobile yardramp ranges available, including Super Deluxe, Deluxe and Standard (heavy, medium and light duty) models, with maximum capacities of between six and 15 tonnes.
All container loading ramps include a steel superstructure for maximum strength, a hand operated hydraulic pump to allow the ramp to be raised up to the required height, as well as a built-in towing mechanism for quickly and easily moving the ramp by fork truck.
They also feature solid tyres, 1.8m of safety chain on each side to secure the ramp to the vehicle or dock, thus helping to eradicate potentially dangerous vehicle creep, and a serrated open grid deck to ensure positive traction in all weather conditions.
Mobile loading ramps are available for purchase or can be rented, on a sale or return basis, through the company’s RentARamp division.
Alternatively, where there is no raised loading dock and space is at a premium, the company offers the Truckloada mobile yard lift, together with the Dockloada scissor lift platform, which are both ideal for loading and unloading cages or pallets to and from vehicles.
“At Thorworld we work hard to offer a range of products designed to enhance the efficiency, safety and cost-effectiveness within the loading bay area, “explained John Meale, Managing Director of Thorworld Industries. “As our new brochure demonstrates, we are a one-stop-shop for loading and unloading solutions – quite simply, if you need to move goods then you need our products!
