_john-knowles-company-25yrsCongratulations are due to the John Knowles Company, a marketing agency steeped in the fork lift truck industry, which has just celebrated its 25th anniversary.

Whether or not you are familiar with the company’s name, you will certainly be well aware of its work…

As PR agency for the FLTA, the John Knowles Company has helped to develop such high profile initiatives as the FLTA Annual Awards for Excellence and the National Fork Lift Truck Safety Week. Its team has worked tirelessly over the years to maximise the impact of every message the Association communicates to the industry.

The company’s largest client is Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks, for which it holds the account for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Internationally, that involves everything from creating sales literature, designing promotional materials and building websites to preparing plans, scripts and audiovisual content for major product launch events. Closer to home, it works closely with Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks UK on an annual marketing programme specific to this country’s national dealer network.

But it is the company’s unique understanding of the materials handling industry’s particular marketing and PR needs that has been the bedrock of its success. As well as the FLTA and Mitsubishi, it represents Consolidated Fork Truck Services (the body behind the first national scheme for Thorough Examination accreditation) and has just landed a contract to act as PR consultant for Mentor, the UK’s leading provider of materials handling training.

To avoid any conflict of interests, the John Knowles Company refuses to work for fork lift truck manufacturers other than Mitsubishi – but is always open to approaches from companies making or supplying associated products and services.

To mark the anniversary, the company’s staff surprised directors John and Marie Knowles with a book containing messages and memorabilia from customers and contacts spanning its 25-year history. “It came as a complete shock,” says Marie. “We had no idea we’d been going for so long! We’re deeply touched by the effort everyone has made and we feel lucky to be working with such an exceptional team.”
