Leicester based logistics provider, the Widdowson Group, has been awarded a haulage contract with LINPAC Storage Systems, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of storage solutions.
The 12 month rolling contract awarded to Widdowson’s Transport Division covers the haulage of LINPAC’s APEX pallet racking, shelving and related accessory products to their customer network throughout the UK.
David Sheppard is the general manager of LINPAC Storage Systems, he comments, “In the past Widdowson was our chosen haulier for many years, so after a three year break when the contract came up for renewal we asked them to tender again. They came back with the most professional offering by far, supported by a sound financial package.”
He continues, “We like working with people we know and Widdowson is a family owned, UK haulier that is very easy to deal with. Like us, they are very open on how they monitor their internal service levels and are able to feedback valuable data to us.
“They also have the ability to directly improve our customer performance levels as they use a professional method of tracking each of their vehicles via the internet. This means we can view the progress of our deliveries online in real time. We can view the proof of delivery notes online too – something we find particularly useful.
“Transport is an integral part of our supply chain and Widdowson won the contract because it’s essential that we use a haulier we can rely on to deliver the goods to our customers on time, every time,” Sheppard concludes.

The Widdowson Group UK Transport division offers national distribution from one pallet to a full load, either on a dedicated, contractual, shared user or ad hoc basis. The company has a modern fleet, in excess of 120 vehicles which extend from panic vans to 44 tonne artics and over 200 trailers.
