image005-fdesFrank De Souza is a Key Account Manager at Exide Technologies (CMP Batteries Ltd) and is a well-known face in the materials handling industry in the South having covered this area for over 26 years. He is soon to leave the South, but what is the South’s loss is also Scotland’s gain, for Frank is staying with Exide but moving to Fife. He will continue as a Key Account Manager serving Scotland and the North East.

Frank comments, “I’ve really enjoyed my time looking after major accounts in the south, but my wife is from Scotland and when a vacancy arose within Exide for the country of my wife’s birth, I jumped at the chance. Although I will probably be needing my umbrella more, I’ll welcome the change of pace and certainly won’t miss the M25.”

Frank’s role will involve visiting prospective clients’ premises and evaluating their materials handling power requirements. He will make recommendations on the various battery options and ancillary equipment such as automatic top up systems. He will also advise on what additional services are required, depending on the clients’ requirements. Frank comments, “A lot has changed in recent years with regard to battery selection; customers are leaning towards more efficient equipment such as high frequency chargers. This has been brought about by rising energy costs and increasing concern/regulation over carbon emissions. The recession has, of course brought it’s own challenges but I’m looking forward to covering the new area”’ Frank concludes.
