carouselCarousel Logistics, an independent third party logistics provider, recently installed a new BestReach Telescopic Boom Conveyor to support their operators in loose loading and unloading large vehicle trailers quickly, safely and efficiently.

Carousel Logistics have been trading for over 25 years, moving over 2 million items per year worldwide, delivering to 220 countries worldwide operating from their purpose built 75,000sq ft European hub in Sittingbourne, Kent.

Having successfully invested in a number of PowerFlex and BestFlex conveyors in 2004, Carousel Logistics confidently returned to Best Conveyors to provide a handling solution to meet their increasing workload.

Due to restricted space in the dock area, a BestReach ‘BR4120s’ was selected as the compact 5m base optimised on the available space. With a 12m conveyor extension, the BestReach can, when fully extended, reach to the end of a 40ft trailer. The BestReach machine was designed to traverse across the dock area to enable its use from any of the available dock doors.

The installation was also equipped with a Hydraulic Tilt and a Man-Rider Platform that allows the operator to raise and lower the level of the belt at the pick face. This provides a safe and ergonomic contact throughout and helps reduce operator fatigue.

Using the existing PowerFlex conveyors with the new telescopic boom, Best Conveyors integrated the units into a highly efficient vehicle loading/unloading system.

Carousel Logistics Operations Manager, Stuart Frasier reported –. “Having successfully worked with Best, when we decided to invest in a more automated system they were a natural choice. From initial consultation to installation, they provided a first class personal service and continue to support fully where required. The equipment has allowed us to become more efficient in the handling of our clients’ products and will help with our continued business growth.”
