opening-cutting-the-ribbonMini Clipper’s new head quarters were opened by Pall-Ex founder Hilary Devey last week in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.

The operator bought the 200,000sq ft former Gossard bra factory two years ago, initially turning the warehouse into an order fulfilment small-part pick facility, complementing their 6500 pallet space warehouse also in Leighton Buzzard.

Speaking at the grand opening, Mini Clipper MD Peter Masters commented: “Our former leased premises were costing us £250,000 a year in rent and rates alone so it made sense to buy this facility. The refurbishment and enhancements including the canopied loading area and new operations offices have taken major investment, but we now have a building which is a perfect fit for our Distribution Centre activities.”

He admits that “relocating during a global economic meltdown has been a challenge” but says the strong support of staff, longstanding key customers and suppliers has made the transition go extremely smoothly.

“The security of our new site is vastly superior compared to our old HQ – we have 20 CCTV cameras and a secure entry system on this site alone, giving our clients peace of mind, and an almost purpose built operations facility for our Pall-Ex and Mini Clipper fleet loading.”
