cfs-gy-with-gr-barnes-group-april-09Since its founding year in 1977, Cranleigh Freight Services has built up an enviable reputation for reliability and innovation, within all sectors of its services – but in particular, for European transport. This year has seen CFS win the Toast of Surrey Business Awards ’09 in the category turnover up to £50 million sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland Group and also become one of the first companies in the South of England to become part of the ECO (Efficient and Cleaner Operators) Stars Fleet Recognition Scheme – The South Yorkshire Care4Air initiative. CFS achieved a rating of four stars.

With the winning of the Cargolux Airlines International S.A. contract earlier this year CFS has invested in the purchase of 12 new DAF tractor units and mega roller bed trailers. CFS requested that the units came with the Euro 5 engine specification resulting in reduced cargo emissions and therefore cleaner. These units were sourced and supplied by the Guildford based Barnes Group.

Fitted with Fleetboard – a state of the art telematics, tracking, communication and management reporting system – CFS goes from strength to strength offering customers the latest technology.

The 16 new trailers to go with the tractor units came from Van Eck – mega trailers, roller deck with opening roofs – and from Schmitz – euroliners and roller deck.

Becky Young, Sales and Marketing Manager said, “This has been an important year for CFS and the investment by the Company is in line with our Environmental and Sustainability Policy. We were glad to offer business to a local company, The Barnes Group, and continue to source innovations that improve our green credentials”.
