Growth in the crisis: Clark Europe GmbH opens new Dealer Support Centre Lyon on 1 September 2009

Lyon is the first step – Clark Europe GmbH opens its first Dealer Support Centre in the French Rhone metropolis on 1 September 2009. Dealer Support Centres of the same kind will also be established in the regions Middle East, Eastern Europe, Great Britain and Russia in the coming years, in order to provide fast and active support to local Clark dealers and customers.

“Despite the financial and economic crisis, we will continue on the chosen path and invest for our dealers, for our customers and therefore in our common future“, stressed Clark’s Managing Director Egon Strehl at the signing of the rental agreement. The Clark base is in immediate proximity to the International Airport Lyon, to the TGV and to the numerous road networks around the metropolitan area Lyon, the much frequented North-South hub of European long distance traffic. At present, Clark is establishing an experienced team of industrial truck specialists at the new Lyon location. This includes among others technical engineers as well as sales personnel.

Technical Support and Marketing Commitment

The tasks of the 100 percent subsidiary of Clark Europe GmbH are primarily technical support and intensified marketing commitment. In the meantime, the Lyon location also handles customised modifications and repairs as well as equipment and spare parts supply. The hinterland of the Dealer Support Centre extends beyond the national borders of France. All French speaking countries – for instance the Western part of Switzerland as well as the emerging North African Mediterranean countries, such as Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco, to name a few – will receive additional support from the Lyon location.

Four further Dealer Support Centres planned

“We plan for the long term and realise our projects consistently step by step – the financial and economic crisis does not change this undertaking“, comments Egon Strehl. “Integral components of our long-term strategy are establishment and strengthening of networks in the different core markets – the new Lyon location is only a first milestone in this respect.”

Clark Europe GmbH will establish further Dealer Support Centres in the coming years in Russia, Jordan, the Czech Republic and England. Clark also expects the intensified presence in many promising markets, in order to establish a good initial position for the time after the recession: “Of course we want to be in an ideal position when the markets recover“, remarks Strehl, “therefore we also consider the current establishment of jobs as a good investment into the future.” They have been able to accommodate the current disturbances on the global markets relatively well so far – “by intensive internal efforts and flexible adaptations, we have been able to avoid going into the red.”
