pr041_andrew_spencerLeading pallet network, UPN, has appointed industry expert Andrew Spencer to the board, as it continues to grow its national palletised freight network.

Andrew Spencer was recently Sales and Marketing Director at another pallet network in the UK, where he spent four years building a national network and successfully implemented a regional sales force, to support growth. He joins UPN to take responsibility for adding new members to the network.

Andrew explains, “I have worked in the logistics sector for two decades in both parcel and pallet networks. In fact, I was part of the team that was involved in starting up UPN back in 2001, but I left after four years, to join another network.

However, I closely followed UPN’s progress and its growing reputation in the sector as a quality operator. It has developed a leadership position through its use of technology and has developed the first real time signature capture system in the palletised freight sector, so UPN has a great story to tell. The business recently implemented a field sales team to work with existing depots to drive growth. On the back of these new developments, I decided to come back and help the business to grow the network. More and more hauliers are looking for ways to improve service and reduce costs and UPN has the perfect solution.”

Martyn Chapman UPN Chairman adds: “I am delighted to welcome Andy back to UPN and I know he will fit well with the management team. Our business has developed a great deal since he was last here and his breadth of experience in the sector will add considerable value to our business and help us to manage growth.”

UPN was established in 2001 as a provider of high quality next-day delivery services for smaller consignments of palletised freight. The company operates a national network of over 60 UK depots, all focussed on delivering the highest quality service available. UPN operates a purpose built hub in the Midlands and has access to over 5,000 vehicles and two million square feet of flexible warehousing across its network. UPN is widely recognised as a technology leader, because of its advanced real time and web based IT infrastructure, designed to improve freight visibility and customer service. The reliability and efficiency of UPN is helping thousands of companies to improve their competitive edge and deliver better customer service, day in and day out.
