marktalbot002PANTOS LOGISTICS UK, the Korean-owned logistics and freight forwarding company, has added Hertfordshire glass and stone importers CAMGLASS LIMITED to its recent list of newly-won customers
Pantos provides Camglass with inbound ocean services from Brazil, China and Turkey, carrying glass as well as stone, and anticipates moving consignments of around 500 teus during this year.

Camglass imports various sizes and styles of glass direct from the manufacturers, which they supply to the glazing industry, glass merchants, double glazing manufacturers, either in direct container loads or smaller vehicle loads. They also import tiles and sanitary ware, as well as washbasins and WCs

Pantos work with Camglass to manage order availability by liaising with manufacturers from receipt of purchase order. Milestone progression on availability is fed back to Camglass on a regular basis to enable advanced sailing schedules and planning to optimise transit times. Upon arrival around 50% of consignments are de vanned at port from containers on to curtain-sided vehicles for ease of unloading at Destination. Deliveries are managed through to either the Camglass facility or direct to the customer.

Pantos won the business by offering Camglass the most attractive cost and service benefits, through its Global network and cost-leadership in terms of international ocean movements.

Says Camglass’s Tile Manager, Sharon Smithers: “We have been delighted with the work Pantos has provided to Camglass. They have been extremely proactive in terms of their customer service and management of our business, and have already made a difference to our inbound logistics activities. Whilst it remains a challenging market for the industry in general, Camglass has worked hard to position the business for growth in 2009. The services that Pantos is providing will be a corner stone to us achieving our plans this year.”

Pantos, which only entered the UK logistics market five years ago, is making a significant impact despite the current economic turndown, and has set its sights on becoming a top-ten global logistics organisation by 2010. It offers multi-modal logistics services, together with modern warehousing and state-of-the-art IT systems, and has blue-chip customers across many commercial and industrial sectors. Its new ‘Single Window’ portal facility for inventory, tracking and document management, is at the heart of its supply chain operations – providing customers with global visibility, from order processing through to final delivery.
