As part of its continuing policy of using leading edge technology to improve customer service, Acumen Distribution has installed satellite tracking into its fleet of vehicles. Called “Track-It” from ‘give me latitude’, the state-of-the-art system ensures the company is always aware of the real time location of its time sensitive freight, which is particularly important in the automotive manufacturing Just In Time environment.
The innovative technology is providing Acumen with accurate information to help it reduce fuel costs and improve operating efficiency. As well as being cost effective to install and operate, the ‘give me latitude’ system is providing Acumen with full European coverage.
The company has deployed a range of hardware for the satellite tracking solution including wired devices for trucks and solar powered devices for use in standalone mode on trailers. Together they are providing Acumen with full visibility of its truck and trailer fleet throughout Europe and providing it with real time information to manage fuel efficiency, vehicle speeds, loading and unloading times and on time collection/delivery performance.
