swisslog-size4_rgbHangzhou Cigarette Factory, a leading cigarette manufacturer in China, has commissioned Swisslog to design and implement a new facility featuring highly automated production process logistics. The value of this order, which Swisslog will carry out as general contractor, amounts to approx. MCHF 22.

The new facility will feature a flexible, automated cut tobacco production process, replacing an older process that no longer meets the changing business environment. “We are pleased to have been chosen by Hangzhou Cigarette Factory for this demanding logistics job. This underlines once more our reputation as a systems integrator for high-complexity projects,” says Daniel Fink, President of Swisslog’s Warehouse & Distribution Solutions division. The business relationship between Swisslog and Hangzhou Cigarette Factory spans more than ten years.

As general contractor, Swisslog will be in charge of the design and realization of the new site located in Hangzhou, some 175 km southwest of Shanghai. The logistics for the cut tobacco production process will cover the transport and storage of the tobacco leaves as well as their blending as required per brand. It will also include two high-bay warehouses accommodating over 10 000 pallet locations in total. Swisslog will implement its own software products WarehouseManager and AutomationManager as well as install its conveyors and stacker cranes. Moreover, it will be responsible for the controls and the overall integration of systems.

Swisslog is a global provider of integrated logistics solutions for warehouses, distribution centers and hospitals. Its comprehensive services portfolio ranges from building complex warehouses and distribution centres to implementing Swisslog’s own software to intra-company logistics solutions for hospitals.
