amari.jpgMeachers Group has wrapped up a deal with the UK’s largest distributor of semi-finished plastics, Amari Plastics plc, utilising its full range of value-added supply chain services. The new agreement is an extension to Meachers existing contract with Amari and a continuation of a successful partnership between the two companies that began in 2004.

Meachers freight forwarding arm, Oast Agencies, will be handling the shipping and importation of containerised goods from around the world and ensure their speedy clearance through customs.
Meachers will then shunt the containers to its Southampton headquarters to carry out devanning and then transfer them to Meachers depot in Derby or directly to Amari’s customers and depots.

Meachers Derby depot is to be utilised by Amari Plastics as a flexible extension to its national warehouse capacity. From here, Amari plastics will dispatch goods, using a dedicated fleet of
vehicles. Customers’ deliveries are then carried out using each site’s own vehicles.

“Amari builds long term relationships with suppliers throughout the world to provide customers with the best possible products at competitive prices”, said David Ladyman, Director – Supplier Relations, Amari Plastics plc. “Meachers is helping us fulfil this quest by providing us with an efficient, well-managed, streamlined operation”.

Originally founded in 1975, Amari Plastics has long been established as the UK market leader in the distribution of semi-finished plastics and associated products. Today, Amari supplies over 20,000 sign making, building and engineering customers with some 12,000-product lines.

Commenting, Gary Whittle, Commercial Director for Meachers Group, says: “We value the strong relationship we have built up with Amari and believe that this further expansion of our business partnership is a reflection of the high levels of customer service we provide.”
