From low value bulk products to high value pharmaceutical blister packs or in-car satellite navigation systems, the value of palletised products can vary tremendously. Businesses therefore need to pay close attention to the way that palletised products are shipped, says Kevin Green the Loveshaw Europe General Manager.
Products stacked on a pallet, if they are not secured in some manner, will still be free to move in transit. A load that moves in transit risks damage. It not only runs the risk of being rejected when delivered, but there is the added burden of returned items, and then there is the cost of re-packing and a second shipment (this assumes the customer will accept a second shipment). Using Stretchwrap to secure a load to a pallet is an ideal way of protecting palletised products.
A pallet wrapping machine will apply stretchwrap film in a consistent, safe and economical manner. Pallet wrappers are a low cost solution to improving load stability of palletised goods in transit. They greatly reduce the risk of returns.
- If a pallet is not secured for transit, the risk of damage is greatly increased
- Correctly securing a pallet for transit will reduce the number of rejected deliveries
- Using a pallet wrapper reduces risk of damage & returns significantly
- Pallet Wrappers wrap quicker, save time and improve throughput
- They provide a consistent wrap quality
- Using a machine eliminates hand wrapping, improves health & safety
- Wrapping machines use significantly less film than wrapping by hand
The most common and most efficient turntable wrapper is a power pre-stretch wrapper. This type of wrapper stretches the film as it is applied to the rotating pallet. Commonly the stretch achieved is between 160-250%.
Experience counts. In October this year, at the PPMA show in Birmingham, Loveshaw Europe launched the first brand New all-British designed turntable pallet wrapper for some considerable time. Called the Pallet Master, this pallet wrapper has built on over 30yrs of industry knowledge and experience. Invest in The Pallet Master and it promises: –
- Reduced maintenance, off the shelf components and unique guide system for film carriage
- Improved safety, fully enclosed film carriage reduces risk for operator and risk of external damage to the carriage
- Reduced operator complexity, simple dials & buttons rather than bespoke touch screens & complex software. Very simple film threading
- Increased reliability, robust manufacture & all steel structure
