The UK’s safest professional drivers stand to win a £1250 cash prize in the Masternaut Three X Safe Driver Competition. Drivers who are entered for the competition will have their performance tracked using GreenerFleet. Over 50,000 drivers could be eligible to enter making this the largest safe driving competition of its kind.
The best performing drivers will also complete an online risk assessment from Drive and Survive as part of the selection process for the eventual winners. The competition commences on 10th November which is at the start of Road Safety Week 2008 and the company will also match the prize with an equivalent donation to the road safety charity Brake.
Drivers will be monitored closely using GreenerFleet, an innovation from Masternaut that was first developed to help fleets to reduce carbon emissions. Fleets using this system soon realised that careful driving not only cut fuel consumption but also led to improvements in road safety.
The quarterly competition will total £10,000 in prizes and donations in its first year. In addition to the quarterly awards, there will be an annual award for the best driver of the year. To enter the competition fleet owners and managers will nominate and sign up their drivers via the GreenerFleet website – www.greenerfleet.co.uk. GreenerFleet will then monitor each driver in real time, measuring their driving performance, including the number of breaks they take, their speed and also their fuel consumption.
Driver data will be extracted from GreenerFleet at the end of each quarter and examined by experts. To ensure that the competition is run under the strictest of conditions it will be judged by a panel of industry figures, including:
