tim.jpgWith rising fuel prices and vehicle testing costs, and increasing pressure on training, safety and efficiency, fleet managers are operating in an increasingly difficult environment. To help customers deal with these pressures, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay is travelling across the UK to ensure operators achieve best practice. Mercedes-Benz CharterWay employs a team of client service managers who are clocking up thousands of miles every week visiting customers to provide tips on realising fuel efficiency, recommendations on driver training and ensuring the right vehicle is being used for the right job. Clients have commended the additional support they have received once they have signed up for a contract hire package.

Tim’s Transport is one customer that has appreciated the added value service he has received from Mercedes-Benz CharterWay’s Client Services Team. Based close to Heathrow Airport, Tim’s Transport was founded in 1990 by Tim Viner. Specialising in refrigerated and perishable goods transport services, the company runs a 24-hour collection, customs clearance, storage and delivery service for H&M Freight Services.

Mercedes-Benz CharterWay first supplied vehicles to Tim’s Transport in 2000, and Tim was initially impressed with the company’s ability to provide a tailor made solution specific to his business and provide continuous support that complemented his company’s day-to-day internal management, and all at a fixed price for the duration of the contract.

And when he needed to grow his fleet or replace vehicles over the years, Tim has continued to return to the service provided by Mercedes-Benz CharterWay.

This year, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay is supplying the company with six new Actros 2546 6×2 Megaspace units on full contract hire with full repair and maintenance cover, with 24 hour roadside assistance. Tim’s client service manager has the additional responsibility of overseeing vehicle deliveries and collections, driver training and on-going vehicle maintenance, as well as administrating a comprehensive programme of review meetings and after-sales support.

Mr Viner explained: “When I needed to expand my fleet, I shopped around to find a good contract hire deal, and Mercedes-Benz CharterWay provided a very competitive financial proposition that met all my requirements. This was all great, but it was the subsequent service I received from the client services manager that really impressed me. Whenever I had a question or needed something, he would always be there to help me out. And, now the contract has been running for some years, the service levels are still as high, and I know I can really count on them to sort out any problem or query very quickly – which is vital when you’re running a 24/7 business and can’t have any downtime.”

Mercedes-Benz CharterWay is the international commercial vehicle, financial services, contract hire and fleet management arm of Daimler Group. National accounts services manager Neil Worthington said that the close working relationships between customers and the client services managers were imperative to ensure the team were fully aware of any areas of products or service that could be improved.

Mr Worthington concluded: “It is in our best interest to ensure that our customers’ businesses are as successful as possible. The client services team is a dedicated added value service that allows our customers to get on with the day-to-day running of their business.”
