dixons.jpgWhen Currys supply chain were planning their new distribution centres in Newark and Bristol, they wanted a quality of finish to reflect the huge investment made in these state of the art facilities. It was crucial to ensure that minimal maintenance was needed in all areas and this naturally involved the line marking of the floor. In previous builds this had been a problem necessitating shut down of specific areas when re-marking was required. With over 55,000 metres of lines required for the new sites, this was a major issue.

Following extensive research and site visits by Currys personnel, the DURAline system from Inotec UK was chosen due to its durability and high quality appearance.

The lines were installed by inotec’s SAFEcontractor approved team, in a three-step approach. Firstly using advanced laser measurements the area was fully marked out and agreed with the customer from the site drawings.

The floor was then specially prepared in all areas to be lined. This process involves mechanically removing any contamination from the floor surface. Unlike chemical preparation or cutting of the floor this system does no long term damage to the floor meaning the lines can be altered should future needs change.

The lines were then applied using a specialist line-painting machine and a two-part epoxy paint, specially developed in conjunction with the UK’s leading industrial paint company. Additional floor signs were sprayed using laser manufactured stencils.

David Edwards, the project manager stated, ‘The DURAline system gave us the efficiency and quality of marking we were seeking. The team worked well with our other contractors and were very flexible in their approach and working methods, which helped Currys to meet our installation and quality goals’.

Currys supply chain were so impressed with the results that most of the existing site at Newark has now been relined with the DURAline system to ensure health and safety rules are not compromised and valuable time is not lost in repainting areas in the future.
inotec UK have a name for quality in their traditional barcode market and believe that with over 250,000 metres of lines installed to date, that the DURAline system compliments their current product range, allowing them to offer complete solutions for warehouse and manufacturing operations.
