Multimodal 2023 is set to be the biggest event yet, featuring more than 250 industry exhibitors and a packed seminar programme.
Robert Jervis, Event Director at Multimodal speaks to Warehouse & Logistics News.
What are your best-known products/solutions/services?
Multimodal is an annual event which brings together businesses, thought leaders and associations from across the supply chain industry.
The three-day show between 13th and 15th June 2023 offers a unique opportunity to make valuable face-to-face contact with new prospects and existing companies. Multimodal 2023 will feature more than 250 industry exhibitors and will have a packed seminar programme aimed at those working in and supporting logistics, shipping and supply chain.
Which industry sectors are your customers in and which ones are growing fastest?
Multimodal is unique in bringing all sectors of the supply chain industry together under one roof. Since 2008, Multimodal has successfully built a supply chain and logistics community of shippers, retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, importers and exporters alongside the suppliers who support them.
Shippers and cargo owners attend to improve their businesses through finding ways of moving their products more efficiently and by meeting new suppliers.
Multimodal is characterised by key vertical sectors, including manufacturing, retail, agribusiness, chemical, automotive, electronics, FMCG, food & drink, fashion, pharmaceuticals, construction, aerospace, energy, real estate, recycling, paper/print and perishables, whilst horizontally, the show covers all modes of transportation, including sea, road, rail, air, and inland waterways.
This matrix design makes Multimodal incredibly valuable and accessible for shippers – whilst also affording them the opportunity to successfully meet and network with peers from other sectors, which is another key reason for their attendance.
In our experience, the fastest growing sectors are those in technology, compliance and sustainability technologies. We are also seeing the emergence of alternative fuels and AI – both of which we expect to be significantly more important in the coming years.
What are your most recent product innovations?
Each year we have seen Multimodal grow, and this year’s event is no exception.
We are constantly innovating to make sure that the whole event delivers value to visitors and exhibitors. In March we announced that Multimodal 2023 will be the UK’s largest logistics and transport industry event following a sharp rise in exhibition space bookings. The amount of square footage sold has already surpassed the total amount last year, and visitor demand for the exhibition promoted organisers to open registration early, resulting in a 100% spike in bookings compared to the same time last year.
This has been supported by the introduction of a new website helping visitors secure their free place more quickly, with exhibitors and speakers also benefitting from a host of new features. This includes a dedicated section for best practice templates to help with announcements and design, plus the ability to create and update a profile and add product information in just one click.
As per previous years, Multimodal will be delivering a highly crafted and bespoke series of seminars targeted at helping supply chains run more efficiently, as well as offering two networking events, the Multimodal Awards, and the Multimodal Mixer.

How does business in 2022 compare to previous years? What’s your strategy for succeeding in the current climate?
The Supply Chain industry will always face challenges, whether these are as a result of a struggling economy, materials sourcing or digital expertise. Multimodal 2023 is the biggest event yet as representatives from across transport and logistics come under one roof to explore solutions, network with their peers and learn about new techniques and innovations via the extensive seminar programme supported by expert speakers.
Can you tell us about any areas where you’re currently making technical advances eg safety, sustainability, environment?
Across the whole of Clarion, we are building data to understand better how people travel to our events and the contacts that they make there. Initial finding suggest that attending exhibitions is a very sustainable way for businesses to operate.
Are you investing in staff training and skills development?
Yes – always and on an ongoing basis.
