For many businesses in the logistics industry, warehouse lighting represents a major expense and source of energy use. Energy prices are at an all time high and as we move towards net zero 2050, organisations are under heightened pressure to find long term solutions to cut their energy use and carbon emissions. An almost instant solution to the energy use challenges we face is smart lighting, an advanced technology that provides quantifiable cost benefits and real energy savings. Designed to ensure that lighting is used only where and when it is needed, smart lighting is an automated system that gives users complete control over lighting use, output levels and colour temperatures – all of which impact energy use, says Rachel Morris at Ansell Lighting.

NLT Electrical’s clients include a leading construction manufacturer working across the UK who recognise the need for improved visibility and cost savings year after year, as well as achieving their environmental targets. By converting their warehouse lighting to LED, they have boosted the productivity of their staff and are reaping the rewards both in output and monetary value. The staff reported that the new lighting was “brilliant” and they felt safer in their environment because the lighting was bright and consistent.

As the warehouse sector expands and more lighting is required, let’s hope that the industry can find energy saving solutions.
