Industry leading supplier Triathlon Battery Solutions is helping customers overcome the challenge of long equipment lead times by offering transformative short-term battery rental packages designed to keep trucks operational for longer.
Tom Burgess, Managing Director of Triathlon Battery Solutions, explains: “Market conditions are exceptionally volatile making it increasingly difficult for businesses to predict future handling needs. By expanding the scale and scope of our battery rental fleet we can give them the flexibility and manoeuvrability they so urgently need.”
Add extra shifts
In order to respond to seasonal peaks in demand and product availability, businesses can rent high quality batteries to extend or add shifts, thereby rapidly – and cheaply – increasing operational capacity.
“A key benefit of a Triathlon rental package is it that it allows users of material handling equipment to retain batteries for precisely the period they need them, whether that’s a few days or a few months,” continues Tom. “At the same time, the fixed cost of the rental agreement allows a customer to plan with real certainty.”
Financial benefits
The widely reported tightening of cash flow is another driving factor behind Triathlon’s increase in availability of rental batteries. With a growing number of companies reporting delays in receiving payments, truck users can rent a battery rather than commit the capital required to purchase them.
“Doing so also allows the customer to treat batteries as tax-deductible revenue rather than assets on the company record, generating cash and getting those assets off the balance sheet,” adds Tom. “We also offer the option of switching from rental to purchase at any time to give even greater flexibility.”
Extending product life and overcoming long lead times
Currently, Triathlon is seeing particularly strong demand from customers in many sectors who wish to use rented batteries to extend the working life of otherwise perfectly sound equipment beyond the typical 5-year term of most contracts.
Tom says: “Manufacturers of forklift and warehouse trucks, distributors and dealers are using our rental batteries as a sort of power bank to keep customers satisfied as they wrestle to cope with ever-lengthening lead times for new equipment, which currently can be as long as 30-40 weeks.”
New package for lithium-ion
Triathlon also offers an option for customers looking to switch to lithium-ion batteries. The Triathlon Buy Secure scheme allows truck users to rent a lithium-ion battery for 5 years and at the end of the rental period simply return it or extend the hire period.
