WLN – As the Industrial Heating category experts, how has the category been performing in the last 12 months? What are the major trends and developments?

Reznor has continued to perform well in 2014, which we can put down to good customer relationships across a broad and growing range of markets in the UK. Major developments for us as an industry in 2014 are the ErP Directive where we need to ensure all of our products conform to the legislation and work towards the goal of reduction of energy along the supply chain.

We have also seen the criteria required to get onto the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) scheme become challenging, but as a business we have adapted by ensuring this is tied into our NPD developments as we understand the benefits the ECA scheme offers to end users and can be the differentiator between installing standard or high efficiency products with greater payback periods.

The ECA scheme enables businesses to claim a 100% first year capital allowance on investments in certain energy saving equipment, against the taxable profits of the period of investment.

WLN – What are your core products and services: what are you best known for providing?

The selection of an appropriate heating scheme is dependent on the nature and requirements of the specific building concerned. Our expertise ensures that the ideal solution is found for each particular situation.

Reznor energy efficient heating systems have been installed in a diverse range of market sectors, bringing the benefit of energy savings to thousands of businesses worldwide.

WLN – What developments or upgrades have you made to your core products and services in the last 12 months?

Our recent product development is the RHeco, which meets the demands of recent and forthcoming European legislation, especially the Ecodesign for ErP (Energy related Products) Directive, of which Lot 21 includes gas-fired warm- air heaters. Such products have been required to have a high seasonal efficiency (considering generation and emission efficiency), but also low NOx emissions and low carbon-monoxide emissions.

Tier 1 of Lot 21 comes into effect in 2017, with Tier 2 following in 2019. While this is a long way ahead, it has been characteristic of manufacturers (pumps are a well-known case in point) to be years ahead of the requirements of the ErP Directive and then encourage the wider industry to match their pace by specifying and installing such products.

The RHeco units exceed the requirements of current Building Regulations L2, with thermal efficiencies up to 109% to provide exceptional levels of seasonal efficiency. Also the extremely low NOx emissions enable BREEAM points to be claimed (when applicable).

One of our large retail customers has recently benefited from installing the new RHeco units by being able to provide BREEAM points. For the project, the new RHeco units secured an additional 3 points for the client which has increased the building rating from good to excellent.
WLN – What makes you the ‘go to’ supplier in your area of expertise?

To ensure client satisfaction, Reznor plays a major role in project management by offering a full range of services designed to make the specification, design and installation process as simple and as straightforward as possible. Services include investigative site surveys, assistance with system design including detailed schematic drawings, running costs and payback calculations and liaison with installation contractors and commissioning.

WLN – Have you launched any new products and services in the past year? How are they performing?

We have recently launched RHeco, the most efficient condensing unit heater on the market featuring an entirely new primary heat exchanger and an advanced burner with ‘pull through’ combustion and premix technology. Unique in the market of gas fired unit heaters, the negative pressure in the combustion system ensures that no gas or flue gases can escape into a building in case of an issue with the heat exchanger.

RHeco has been developed by Reznor to deliver ground-breaking thermal efficiencies of up to 109% never seen before in the industry.

WLN – Which industry sectors are your customers in?

We operate in several sectors including Industrial, Public Buildings, Commercial and Transport.

WLN – Can you name some of your major customers and tell us about the work you do for them?

As a leading manufacturer of HVAC products we supply into a vast number of key contractors into the UK, whilst working alongside them to ensure collectively we are offering a solution that multi-site end users like Asda, B&Q, Harvester, BMW, Asos, Unipart and Norwich Union are reducing their carbon footprint.

WLN – Can you tell us about your latest major projects, and what they involve?

Recently we were asked to provide an energy efficient heating system for A P Burt, who were moving from their existing premises in Portishead to a larger premises, still in Portishead.

Reznor were able to provide the ideal heating solution by installing 4 x RHeco 100 fully condensing gas fired unit heaters together with 12 Maximisor 4500 destratification fans. The units are listed on the Energy Technology List and have an efficiency rating of between 104% and 109% (NCV).  The equipment was specified by Westex Heating who were the Installers for this project.

The de-stratification fans were strategically positioned to bring the heated air from the roof space back down to the working zone and an ambient door curtain was installed on the door between the production area and warehouse area to prevent any heat loss when the door is in use, providing a comfortable working temperature for employees.

Working together and understanding the needs of A P Burt, Reznor were able to provide the perfect energy efficient heating system.

WLN – Have you made any big moves recently in terms of investment in the business, recruitment and so on?

We are delighted to be involved in helping to tackle the unemployment crisis in the UK and supporting the efforts of the local press in finding work for the young.

We are working in partnership with local colleges and investing in young local talent by encouraging individuals to join their apprenticeship scheme, making a commitment to their learning and personal development.

WLN – What was your company’s single biggest achievement in the last year?

Our biggest achievement this year is being shortlisted for the HVR awards in recognition by the industry for developing the highest energy efficient warm air unit heater on the market.

WLN – What are your plans for 2015? Are you planning to bring out any more products or services, move into new markets or enter new countries?

With a continual NPD programme in place and with recent additional investment from the company, we will be launching the P125, a new packaged cooling and heating unit, in early 2015, as well as engineering changes to its existing range of products to ensure they meet both legislation and market demands for the highest efficiencies available.

WLN – Are you exhibiting at any major trade shows this year?

Plans are currently being drawn up to showcase the new P125 packaged cooling and heating unit heater across a number of shows in 2015, so watch this space.

WLN – What are your predictions for the industry in 2015?

With energy efficiency and fuel costs becoming a common discussion within national news on a daily basis, facilities managers and now financial controllers are being pressured to reduce energy costs.

As a manufacturer it is our responsibility to ensure we change and adapt our product portfolio to meet the ever changing industry guidelines and legislation, whilst offering the correct tools, ensuring informative decisions can be made to enable end users to not only look at the initial investment but the whole life costing of the equipment also.

WLN – What other headline news from your company can our readers look forward to reading about in Warehouse & Logistics News in 2015?

Other than the new P125 unit being launched in early 2015, we will endeavour to make sure you are fully aware of our product range and why they are chosen for certain applications providing client case study examples of tried and tested installations and the benefits they provided.
