BEUMER Group is an international leader in the design and manufacture of intralogistics systems for conveying, loading, palletising, packaging, sortation, and distribution. With more than 6,000 employees worldwide, we generate an annual order intake of around 1.39 billion euros. Founded in 1935, we are an independent, family-owned business in the third generation.

Peter Elmvang, Director of Marketing and Communications at BEUMER Group speaks to Warehouse & Logistics News.
What are your best-known products/solutions/services?
BEUMER Group is widely recognised for its expertise in sortation technology.
Our portfolio includes line sorters, loop sorters and pouch systems, supporting a wide range of applications across the CEP, warehouse and distribution industries. These solutions are designed to handle varying parcel types and volumes while maintaining consistent, reliable performance.
In addition to sortation, we provide integrated conveying systems, robotics, and software solutions that enable efficient material flow and operational control. This combination allows us to deliver complete system solutions tailored to the specific requirements of each customer.
What are your most recent products and innovations?
One of our latest developments is the AutoDrop feature for the BG Pouch System, designed to enable fully automated, contactless unloading.
The system uses shape memory alloy technology to trigger a controlled opening mechanism at the designated unloading point, allowing items to be discharged precisely and without manual intervention.
By removing the need for manual handling at unloading stations, AutoDrop helps reduce processing time and improve overall throughput. The system can handle up to 10,000 items per hour per line.
In addition, the compact design reduces the space needed in unloading areas, making it particularly relevant for e-commerce and fashion logistics environments where efficiency and space utilisation are key considerations.
What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?
Automation is now an expected foundation within intralogistics rather than a point of differentiation. This shift is driven by continued e-commerce growth, ongoing labour shortages and increasing pressure to meet shorter delivery times.
At the same time, robotics is becoming more integrated into operations, supporting tasks such as picking, palletising and internal transport.
In response, BEUMER Group is expanding its capabilities in robotics as part of a broader system approach. At LogiMAT 2026, we presented developments including humanoid and articulated robotic concepts, demonstrating how robotics may complement established automation solutions in the future.
We have also entered a strategic partnership with the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML), with a joint Enterprise Lab dedicated to mobile robotics. This collaboration supports the development and testing of new applications, ensuring that innovation is closely aligned with operational requirements and long-term system performance.
Can you tell us about any recent customer contracts and how you helped the customer meet their challenges?
A recent example is our collaboration with Calzedonia Group, a global fashion retailer managing both retail and direct-to-consumer fulfilment from a single site.
As online volumes increased, the existing setup faced growing complexity. The operation needed to handle a wider variety of order profiles, improve returns processing and increase capacity — all within the constraints of the existing facility.
To address this, BEUMER Group implemented the BG Pouch System as a multi-purpose solution for transporting, buffering, sorting and sequencing items. By using overhead space and dynamically storing items until orders are complete, the system improves flow and reduces the need for manual handling.
This approach allows Calzedonia to manage both B2B and B2C operations within one integrated process, while maintaining flexibility as volumes and order structures continue to evolve.
Are you taking part in any major trade shows? Can you tell us what you’ll be exhibiting there?
BEUMER Group regularly participates in major international trade shows as part of our ongoing dialogue with customers and industry partners.
At LogiMAT 2026 in Germany, we presented our BG Pouch System with the AutoDrop feature, demonstrating fully automated, contactless unloading in a live environment. We also introduced new developments in robotics, including a humanoid prototype, to explore how mobile and cognitive robotics could support intralogistics operations in the future.
Looking ahead, we will also be exhibiting at MODEX 2026 in the USA, where we will continue to present our approach to automation, sortation and data-driven system support.
