Boplan has acquired Ghent-based technology company Lopos. The Belgian manufacturer of polymer safety solutions is adding active warning technology for collision prevention to its existing impact protection offering. For more than 25 years, Boplan has been protecting people, machinery, buildings and infrastructure from the consequences of collisions. With Lopos joining the group, Boplan is adding a crucial layer of prevention, enabling it to address risks before collisions occur. Founded in 2019 as a spin-off from imec and Ghent University, Lopos develops cutting-edge technology designed to help prevent collisions in industrial environments.

Xavier Ramon, CEO of Boplan, comments: “The future of industrial safety is not about choosing between preventing collisions and protecting against their consequences, but about combining both. By joining forces with Lopos, we can now offer a unique, integrated safety solution within one group. Our goal is to help customers anticipate risks, reduce incidents and provide the highest possible level of protection for people, machinery and infrastructure.”
The acquisition brings Boplan not only a specialised technology company, but also the expertise, innovation capabilities and intellectual property behind Lopos’ solutions. This creates new opportunities for an integrated approach to risk management across warehouses, logistics centres, production environments and other industrial sites.
Lopos will retain its own market position and continue to serve both existing and new customers. As part of Boplan, the company will be able to scale its technology more rapidly and accelerate its rollout across international markets.
Lorenz Hertoghs, CEO of Lopos, said: “Joining Boplan will allow us to accelerate our ambition to develop technology that makes industrial workplaces safer while reducing the cost of collision-related damage. We will remain focused on innovation, technology and our customers’ needs, while benefiting from Boplan’s international presence, market expertise and ability to deliver at scale.”
Like the recent integration of Celtiplast, the acquisition of Lopos forms part of Boplan’s long-term strategy.
