Automation has created a faster, lower cost and more streamlined packing operation for Supreme Vape Nation’s e-commerce operation, with the system supplied by Yorkshire Packaging Systems (YPS), a specialist in automated packaging solutions. The new automated packing line consists of two SX tabletop bagging machines, with infeed and outfeed conveyors. Each machine features an integrated thermal transfer printer, enabling shipping information to be printed directly onto the mailing bag, eliminating the need for separate labels and improving accuracy while reducing consumable costs.
Packaging is one of the biggest opportunities for businesses to become more sustainable. Cardboard is cheap upfront, but every damaged box has to be replaced, while reusable plastic boxes and containers are built to survive thousands of cycles and hold-up far better in damp or variable conditions. The initial cost is higher, but the cost per use drops sharply over the container’s lifespan and making the switch will also save you the time it takes to regularly reorder and dispose of cardboard, says Dan Starnes, Sales Director at goplasticpallets.com.
Groundbreaking software designed to radically reduce the overuse of packaging, has been developed in a pioneering partnership between Macfarlane Packaging, the UK’s largest protective packaging supplier, and Lancaster University. The game changing software was developed with backing from a UK Government Applied Research Collaborations (ARC) grant and is the backbone of a new Packaging Minimiser service which is available exclusively to Macfarlane customers. It uses an advanced algorithm to pinpoint exactly where businesses are shipping empty space and using too much packaging, or the wrong kind, in the process.
Element Logic and Ranpak Holdings Corp. have entered a strategic global partnership focused on integrating Ranpak’s sustainable end-of-line packaging automation into Element Logic warehouse solutions. The partnership strengthens Element Logic’s ability to deliver end-to-end warehouse automation solutions that help customers improve packing efficiency, reduce packaging material and shipped volume, and respond to packaging requirements that are being phased in under the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). As customer expectations, sustainability requirements and operational complexity continue to increase, warehouse operators are seeking more integrated automation solutions across the entire fulfilment process.
Outsourcing provides ambitious brands with the expertise and resources to accelerate growth and bring new products to market.
