- Production of new EFG series begins
- New generation offering graduated performance in the 48-volt segment with a load capacity of up to 2.0 tonnes
- Best-in-class compactness and high operator comfort for efficient material flows

Jungheinrich has commenced production of the new EFG 2/2i and EFG 3/3i electric counterbalanced forklift trucks at its production centre in Moosburg. The first truck in the series, a new EFG 320i, rolled off the production line on 26 October.
Hamburg/Moosburg – Production of the new EFG 2/2i and EFG 3/3i has started at Jungheinrich’s Moosburg plant. The site is among the world’s most advanced production facilities and exemplifies state-of-the-art intralogistics.
The new generation of EFG 2/2i and 3/3i electric counterbalance trucks, with load capacities of up to 2 tonnes, complements Jungheinrich’s portfolio. Building on the success of over 170,000 vehicles sold, this range combines productivity, safety and future-proof design with a compact build. The 2/2i series comprises manoeuvrable three-wheel forklift trucks with load capacities ranging from 1.4 to 2.0 tonnes, whilst the 3/3i series comprises four-wheel forklift trucks with load capacities ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 tonnes. “With these new series, we have developed forklift trucks that are consistently tailored to the real-world demands of the warehouse – from compactness and ergonomics right through to performance,” says Marek Scheithauer, Global Portfolio Lead for Counterbalance Light Trucks at Jungheinrich.
Best-in-class compactness for cost-effective warehousing processes
An integrated lithium-ion battery, optimised steering axle geometry and compact design increase the EFG 2/2i and3/3i’s space efficiency by up to 15 per cent. The turning circle, which is up to 300 millimetres smaller depending on the model, makes it easier to work safely in narrow aisles, in lorry loading areas and in confined production areas, whilst reducing space costs.
Three performance variants and a modular energy concept
The performance levels – efficiencyPLUS, drive&liftPLUS and performancePLUS – range from moderate handling capacities through to all-round use and maximum productivity. With performancePLUS, permanent-magnet synchronous motors and optimised hydraulics boost handling capacity and energy efficiency. The modular energy concept comprises integrated lithium-ion batteries with capacities of 346, 460 or 690 Ah, lead-acid batteries and provision for fuel cell operation.
Ergonomics and acoustics for fatigue-free working
Around 100 millimetres more legroom, a lower entry height and an optimised steering column reduce strain on the driver. The vibration-isolated cab reduces the noise level to 63 dB(A). A 4.3-inch touchscreen and redesigned controls enable intuitive, precise operation.
Greater safety through improved visibility
The sloping B-pillar reduces the blind spot when reversing by up to 65 per cent, thereby enhancing safety. A low dashboard and optional panoramic roof improve visibility of the forks, load and shelf levels. These are complemented by driver assistance systems such as the AI-powered person detection system addedVIEW and the collision protection system zoneCONTROL.
The optional SmartStripe LED light strip indicates braking, direction of travel, warnings and battery status. Real-time operational data, digital service, predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics prevent unplanned downtime, speed up repairs and reduce costs.
“The new EFG 2/2i and 3/3i series combine measurable productivity benefits with a high level of investment security and future-proofing. In this way, we support our customers in organising their internal processes efficiently today, whilst ensuring they are equipped to meet tomorrow’s requirements,” says Marek Scheithauer.
