The multi-talented barrister, broadcaster, best-selling author and BAFTA winner Robert Rinder MBE has been revealed as UKWA’s special host at this year’s prestigious Awards for Excellence celebrations.

Robert will be entertaining guests at the Association’s flagship event after a splendid lunch at the Royal Lancaster London on 9 July, sponsored by DSV Global Transport & Logistics. He will also announce the winners and present awards across eleven categories.

Robert rose to fame as Judge Rinder on ITV. He also hosted his own BBC Radio 5 Live series, ‘Raising the Bar’ and presented a series on Classic FM exploring the work of LGBT composers and performers. This year, his popular BBC series Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour’ won a BAFTA Television Award for Factual Entertainment.

Graduating from the University of Manchester with a double first in Politics and Modern History, Rob was awarded an MBE for his services to Holocaust education in 2020, as well as receiving an honorary doctorate for his legal work and a Doctor of Literature from University College London.

He has competed on Strictly Come Dancing, is a regular host on Good Morning Britain and co-hosts BBC Two’s ‘Amazing Hotels; Life Beyond the Lobby’. Rob’s novels, ‘The Trial’ and ‘The Suspect’, inspired by his experiences as a barrister, both became Sunday Times No 1 best sellers.

President of Orion Orchestra, Rob helps nurture the next generation of the UK’s best musicians and is an honorary colonel in the Royal Corps of Army Musicians. He speaks French, reads Russian and is a keen ultra marathon runner.
