What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
It has to be getting involved with such a large range of projects – from the big distribution centres to car showrooms and even luxury home projects, so it’s never boring. Also with most projects involving lots of different stages I get to work with a huge variety of people. It’s a great part of my job, you never know who you are going to get to meet next.
Who has inspired you most in your career?
Definitely my Mum and Dad. They are both very hardworking and nothing seems like too big a challenge for them to take on. They taught me to believe in myself and my skills and even when life got difficult they showed me that it’s not about how many times you fall down but how many times you pick yourself up.
If you had your time again, what would you do different?
I really wouldn’t change anything. I am very lucky to live a life I truly enjoy and always dreamt of. I find joy in the little things in life and I am very grateful for everything I have and achieved.
What’s your favourite pastime?
That’s easy – reading. I love to wind down with a good book and a cuppa.
Do you play a sport, follow a sport or support a team?
No, but I used to play volleyball in my school team. I really can’t say that I was very good at it but I certainly enjoyed it a lot.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened in your career?
It’s quite embarrassing to admit this, however, when I first started in the building industry I went on a site in my flat ballet shoes, having completely forgotten my steel toe boots. I was asked to leave the site in front of a lot of people so that was very embarrassing and it was definitely the last time it happened!
Do you have any hidden talents?
I am a professional napper, I can literally fall asleep almost anywhere! But on a serious note I like to bake and I’ve been told I am quite good at it. I love to bake for my family and friends.
What is the greatest luxury in your life?
Definitely my health. Without it I wouldn’t be able to work and enjoy life.]
If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
I would share it with my family and probably go on a few good holidays.
Who or what makes you laugh?
James, my partner. He always knows how to make me laugh even if I am stressed or worried.
What’s your dream holiday?
That would be a trip to Japan. It’s not somewhere I’ve been but I would love to go, particularly to see the cherry trees in full blossom.
What’s your favourite music album?
There isn’t one I can pin point, but my music taste is extremely varied. It really does depend on my mood.
What’s your favourite movie or Netflix series?
That has to be the Harry Potter series. They are my favourite books of all time and definitely my favourite films – I could rewatch them at anytime.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
That would be to come in with an open mind, work hard and be respectful. This is a great industry to work in and I wouldn’t change it at all.
