Vanderlande’s PARCELTRAX has won the Sorting Technology of the Year award at the Parcel & Postal Technology International Awards 2024, held during Parcel+Post Expo in Amsterdam from 22 to 24 October. This new-to-market solution has been designed to automate small parcel handling, traditionally a time-consuming manual operation.
PARCELTRAX is an auto bagging system that consolidates small items into parcel bags, before closing and sending them to labelling and zipping stations. This solution makes the most of a sorting centre’s footprint because it fits neatly underneath the existing smalls sorter.
In addition, PARCELTRAX incorporates a belted-conveyor rail system and 3D-printed metal and plastic hangars, which make it extremely robust and capable of transporting bags weighing up to 35kg. System configuration means that bags no longer need to be transported on rails above the sorter, helping to prevent accidents related to the movement of pouches.
“We believe PARCELTRAX is one of the most efficient and reliable small-handling solutions on the market,” says Brendan Mathews, End-to-End Product Manager at Vanderlande. “We are grateful for this prestigious accolade, which for us confirms that PARCELTRAX meets the needs of busy sorting centres and the increasing demands they face in processing small parcels.”
