What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
I’ve been in the industry for over 29 years and I’ve learned so much during my time. I’ve only been at Whittan for just less than a year but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed utilising my skills here and getting to work with my other team members and customers. I’m proud to be part of the market-leading British manufacturer of storage solutions as we have some pretty exciting things coming up in the next few months.
Who has inspired you most in your career?
There are too many people to mention as I have had so many great mentors and leaders. However, if I had to name just one, it would be my work mum, Myra.
If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?
I’d be the broom, as I’ve had to clean up a lot of mess over the years.
If you had your time again, what would you do different?
Nothing really, I don’t have many regrets in life. Although, I would have gone for the 21-inch wheels on the car.
What’s your favourite pastime?
My favourite things to do are spending time with my family and friends, weekends away and walking my dog to the pub.
Do you play a sport, follow a sport or support a team?
I don’t follow much sport, but I do enjoy watching the big fights, England in the World Cups and Euros and the kids’ football at the weekends.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened in your career?
Probably the Christmas parties in my younger years. The less said the better.
Do you have any hidden talents?
Nope. Unless snoring counts?
Who would be your favourite party guest?
Tyson Fury or Boris Johnson. They both love a good party.
What is the greatest luxury in your life?
My ice-making machine that I got as a Christmas present a few years ago. I love ice in all my drinks (even red wine!) so it comes in very handy.
If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
I’d love to be able to set my friends and family up for life and buy a holiday home or two in the sun.
Who or what makes you laugh?
A good meme or comedian. I do like John Bishop.
What’s your dream holiday?
I quite fancy a cruise around the Caribbean.
What’s your favourite music album?
It really does depend on my mood. There are so many to choose from but if I had to choose just one, I’d have to say Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins.
What’s your favourite movie or Netflix series?
My all-time favourite show has to be Only Fools and Horses.
What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
Do it! It’s a great industry! As part of our job, we have to always be adaptable and resilient in such a fast-paced role. It’s important to listen to the customer and ensure you really understand their needs and deliver on the promises you’ve made. You can learn a lot from others around you, so also listen to your colleagues as you can always learn something new. And of course, always provide first-class customer service!
