With 30 years’ experience, the team at Transmon continues to design, develop and install a range of solutions for forklift trucks and materials handling equipment, that offer impactful solutions for today’s fleet operators. From standalone equipment such as cameras and warning lights, to fully integrated adaptive speed control and proximity warning systems, our bespoke solutions protect both forklift drivers, workers, and building infrastructure while enhancing productivity and efficiency across warehouses, distribution centres, production facilities, and depots.

One of our recent projects was in the manufacturing sector where our customer had a fleet of forklift trucks and was looking to find an efficient solution to segregate workers from the trucks without compromising on either safety or productivity. We had the opportunity to conduct an onsite demonstration of our speed control and proximity warning technologies, and the initial requirement grew from there, with the customer seeing the value in creating a bespoke solution.

Their specific requirements included key areas of the production facility which included a number of blind spots and zones where trucks and pedestrians could potentially come into close contact. In these areas, it was vital that pedestrians could enter these areas safely, with forklift trucks slowing to a safe site speed.

Working with the customer we established the need for a thoroughfare for forklift trucks and walkways for pedestrians to use. As these two zones crossed, we developed a solution to involve gates for pedestrians who wear a badge, and when in range, the badge triggers an alarm so that the approaching driver is alerted, and the forklift is automatically slowed to a predetermined speed when in the vicinity. If no pedestrians are in the zone, the gates remain closed to allow the forklift trucks to carry out their materials handling tasks with no impact on speed which ultimately enhances productivity. The solution we developed and deployed offers the ideal balance between productivity and safety, at all times.

With our broad range of intralogistics customers increasingly focused on staff well-being, safety, and efficiency across production areas, warehouse storage, and product distribution, deploying bespoke solutions to safeguard drivers, workers, and building infrastructure has a vital role to play in supporting efficient operations.
