As an industry we have made huge advances in converting to a greener future whilst still ensuring vital services to food and pharmaceutical storage and delivery. We look forward to continuing our partnership with government around schemes such as the Climate Change Agreement, but also to identify new ways in which government can encourage the cold chain sector to accelerate the up take of green and renewable energy schemes in temperature-controlled vehicles.
The Kings Speech is a positive move towards a more sustainable future for our essential industry and the emerging details around employment status, skills and a more sustainable future for the UK will allow the Cold Chain Federation to engage positively with the new government.
In 2023 alone, the cold chain sector contributed £13 billion in gross value added, supported 167,000 jobs, and generated £3.4 billion in tax revenue. We ensure the safe and efficient delivery of essential goods like food, plants, and medicines to every corner of the country.”
