SEE has announced two new Packforum EMEA events as it celebrates the fifth anniversary of its customer engagement centre dedicated to driving packaging innovation and sustainability.

Packforum EMEA opened in Milan in April 2019 at SEE’s Passirana production facility. It provides businesses with access to the latest trends, technology and expert support to optimise packaging automation, digitalisation and circularity.

Since opening its doors, Packforum in Milan has welcomed more that 2,800 companies from across Europe and run 30 events. These have addressed the biggest packaging challenges affecting food companies including processors, distributors and retailers, as well as companies keen to protect non-food goods during storage, handling and distribution.

Prior to opening in Milan, Packforum EMEA was located in Paris for 17 years, where it became globally recognised as a centre of packaging excellence. The customer engagement centre hosted industry-leading events and partners, bringing together thousands of packaging professionals and supply chain thought leaders each year to share ideas and inspire best practice.

The two newly announced Packforum events take place in June 2024 and are designed to help food companies to maximise efficiencies and minimise waste.

The first event, ‘Shaping the Future of Foodservice Packaging Together’, is scheduled for 5th June. It’s an ideal opportunity for food service and quick service restaurant professionals to learn about innovations in liquids packaging, which can extend shelf life, save transportation and storage space, and improve safety and hygiene.

The second Packforum EMEA event, ‘Darfresh® Mastering the Game of Retail Packaging Innovation’, is arranged for 13th June and will appeal to professionals working throughout grocery retail supply chains. The latest advances in vacuum skin packaging solutions will be explored at the event, with focus on enhancing product presentation to drive retail sales and avoid food waste.

At each of the events, guests will be able to hear from thought leaders from across industry, as well as packaging design, development and testing experts from SEE.

Riccardo Catagnetti, Executive Director, Strategic Marketing Food EMEA at SEE, commented: “Packforum’s fifth anniversary in Milan is a major milestone, which we’re proud to celebrate. It marks ongoing efforts and progress in helping a wide range of businesses across EMEA to make packaging strategies more sustainable. This is made possible through collaboration and education that inspires innovation and improvements in packaging performance.

“Packforum brings together experts from across industry and SEE to share the latest trends and insights and explore new technologies, materials and processes. This advances packaging life cycle analysis and best practice to create solutions that better align with the goals of circular economies.”

In addition to running specialist events, the 3,100m2 Packforum EMEA centre has a state-of-the-art technical hall for helping businesses to develop and test packaging solutions, and to demonstrate performance benefits. The centre’s large conference area is also used to host seminars and training sessions.

Riccardo concludes: “We took the strategic decision to move Packforum EMEA from Paris and open in Milan, as SEE’s global research and development centre is on the same site in Passirana. We can create end-to-end packaging experiences that deliver value throughout supply chains. Being able to share and build knowledge with businesses during the past five years has been a privilege and we’re looking forward to helping solve more critical packaging challenges during the next five years, and beyond.”
