Dale Paterson, Managing Director at Exporta speaks to Warehouse & Logistics News.

What are your best-known products/solutions/services?

We offer sustainable and returnable plastic solutions that challenge traditional warehousing packaging. Our key ranges are Plastic Pallets, Plastic Pallet Boxes and Plastic Containers & Crates.

Plastic Pallets are the sustainable option in modern warehousing and logistics networks. With over 98% of Exporta’s range made from recycled plastic, and 100% of the range being recyclable at the end of use, you can be confident you are supporting a circular economy. We have seen increased use globally of our popular Plastic Pallet Box. These boxes are designed to hold huge amounts of weight whilst maintaining their durability. With one of the most extensive ranges of containers and crates in the UK and Europe, you can be sure you’ll find what you need from Exporta.

Which industry sectors are your customers in and which ones are growing fastest?

Anyone who has a warehouse or makes use of a supply chain is a potential Exporta customer. We supply to all industries including retail, pharmaceutical and automotive. We’re seeing a lot of growth in the ecommerce and retail sector as companies increasingly turn to automated warehousing, which Exporta can support.

What are your most recent products and innovations?

We’ve recently introduced a recycled version of our popular collapsible pallet box range. This economic option is sustainable and a step forward for businesses who don’t need a completely virgin plastic option. We also have a constant stream of folding crates and hand-held boxes being added to our range, maximising transport efficiencies for our customers.

What are the major trends and developments affecting your category and your customers, and how are you responding?

Absolutely, the rise in automated warehousing. We’re seeing increasing demand for automation totes to suit conveyors and high rise storage systems. It’s an exciting time in the industry.

Can you tell us about any recent customer contracts and how you helped the customer meet their challenges?

We recently helped B&M who got in touch us with a retail space storage problem. We were able to provide a customised pallet and retention unit system which has worked exceptionally well for them.

What’s the latest news from your company?

We’ve recently expanded our distribution centre. I’m excited to see this new work take place on one of our key sites. It’s testament to the continued growth of Exporta and will ensure we’re able to keep supplying returnable plastic solutions to our customers in the prompt and reliable manner they expect and need.

Can you tell us about any areas where you’re currently making technical advances e.g., safety, sustainability, environment?

Having achieved carbon neutral status, we continue to pursue our environmental goals with passion.

Are you investing in staff training and skills development?

Continual investment in personal skills and product training are key pillars of the Exporta foundation with a significant budget each year, ultimately benefiting our clients

Are you taking part in any major trade shows? Can you tell us what you’ll be exhibiting there?

We’re exhibiting at a variety of shows throughout the year, showcasing our returnable and sustainable plastic solutions. We’re going to be at Tomorrow’s Warehouse in Coventry and Manchester as well as Deliver Europe in Amsterdam.
