Mayr-Melnhof Packaging (MM Chile), Chilean subsidiary of the leading European group in the manufacture and distribution of paper and cardboard packaging, has carried out a comprehensive logistics optimisation project at its Distribution Centre in Santiago, Chile. The project included the implementation of double deep pallet racking systems from AR Racking, industrial storage solutions specialist.
Carolina Kanacri, Administration and Finance Manager of MM Chile, emphasised the need to consolidate its products in a single warehouse to improve operating efficiency. “We had several leased warehouses for raw materials and finished products, and also logistics operators. We decided to opt for a single warehouse with the products in a consolidated space, meaning a major project to make the operation more efficient. That is why implementing racking to optimise the space in a single location was the right thing to do.”
The choice of AR Racking as strategic partner was based on the company’s proven experience and efficiency in previous projects. “We saw first-hand just how efficient their implementation was. They fully complied with the agreed Gantt chart. Their manufacturing process is very expeditious. It is a serious company with a multinational structure and concrete references. They responded appropriately and in a timely manner to our requests from head office,” explained Kanacri.
Among the added values that led MM Chile to trust in AR Racking were efficiency, know-how and fulfilment of agreements and expectations, not to mention the quality of the final product. “They are efficient and they have know-how. They respect the planning schedule, with time being a key factor in this project. What’s more, it is a well-designed, quality product; they met our expectations,” added Kanacri.
Kanacri said that the experience of implementing the project with AR Racking was “very good in general”. She also highlighted AR Racking’s commitment to the excellence of the end result, including offering guidance on the quality of the floor for the type of racking implemented.
