Palletline Logistics’ newly appointed Group Fleet Manager has championed the success of apprenticeship schemes that encourage young people into the workplace, lessening the pressure on an aging workforce. A former apprentice, Sam values the apprenticeship experience and feels the skills learnt at those early stages of his career really set him up for success in the future. “Coming in at a younger age gives you the opportunity to learn from your more experienced colleagues and form your own ideas about best practices in the workplace, presenting those ideas and knowledge to your superiors really makes you stand out from the rest and gives them the opportunity to recognise the young talent of a technician at the early stages,” he said.

Award-winning freight distribution network Pall-Ex has announced the appointment of Bridie O’Halloran as Corporate Sales Director. Bridie brings with her a wealth of experience, boasting 30 years in sales, 23 of those in logistics, with a background of managing sales teams in renowned logistics companies such as Target Express and Parcelforce. In her new role, Bridie will be building a robust pipeline of corporate accounts and travelling across the UK to engage with customers and promote Pall-Ex services.

Near-century-old North Wales logistics firm Mars Jones has outlined its significant ambitions for growth after joining the Pallet-Track network – a move which has already created 10 new jobs. Mars Jones is aiming to open a third warehouse to complement existing premises in Flintshire and Deeside, as part of its drive to become the biggest and best operator in its area. First established in 1924, the company specialises in distribution, warehousing and storage, contract packing and assembly in the food and drink and mobility equipment industries among others.

EV Cargo’s Palletforce has continued to take proactive steps to secure long-term stability in challenging areas, with the recruitment of a new member in Cambridge. Ensuring Palletforce members and their customers continue to benefit from sector-leading service excellence, A&R Haulage joins the network to take on CB postcodes in Cambridge and Saffron Walden, along with northern CM postcodes around Stansted. Based in Risby on the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire border, A&R Haulage works with some of the biggest trailer operators and freight forwarders in the UK and Europe.

It is encouraging to see the pallet networks expanding their membership, strengthening the logistics industry as a whole.
