There is a lot to consider when designing a safe and efficient loading bay as circumstances and environments in which docks are used are very diverse and bespoke to every facility. The loading dock is a crucial area on site where a business or logistics operator receives and dispatches goods, so a good loading dock design is pivotal in achieving loading safety and efficiency. A recent project by BID Loading Bay Equipment, was to replace original manual dock levellers with new, innovative dual swing lip levellers, designed for heavy-duty use they feature a 6000kg safe working load.

A selection of industrial doors from Hörmann UK have been installed at a new, purpose-built bus depot in Warrington, designed to be home to the first all-electric bus fleet in the UK. The £10m facility, constructed by Preston based Walter Carefoot & Sons (Construction) Ltd, is fitted with Hörmann roller shutters, a high-speed spiral door and steel sliding doors. A total of thirteen Hörmann 5m high Decotherm DD roller shutter doors have been fitted to the access bays of the depot.
