Thanks to a revolutionary new energy platform, HC Forklifts UK can now offer electric counterbalance trucks that work like IC engine models – but better. The high-voltage Hangcha XH series of Li-ion forklifts combines superior strength, speed and efficiency with super-fast charging and robust resistance to harsh conditions.

For these innovative 2.0 to 3.8 tonne lift trucks, the typical 80V battery of a heavy-duty electric forklift has been replaced by one that delivers a mighty 309V. This takes the benefits of lithium-ion technology to a whole new level.

Faster and more efficient

Using a high-power charger, the battery can be charged fully in just one hour. With a higher capacity and more efficient energy consumption than previous batteries, it will run for 12 hours on a single one-hour charge. And in common with other Li-ion power packs, it can also be given quick opportunity charges for virtually non-stop activity.

The XH series’ advances are built on decades of pioneering electric and IC engine lift truck developments by Hangcha, one of the world’s leading manufacturers. In tests against comparable IC engine trucks, the high-voltage Li-ion forklifts have demonstrated faster travel and lift speeds, and higher maximum gradeability, both laden and unladen.

Meanwhile, they typically save around 90% on energy/fuel costs compared to fuelled trucks and 40% compared to ‘normal’ Li-ion battery trucks.

Tough and reliable

Designed to cope with tough environments, both indoors and outdoors, the X series’ outer shell is sealed to IPX4 level. Its motors, electronic controls and high-voltage components are protected to a greater level, IP67, against dust and moisture. Extreme testing has included driving the trucks through deep baths of water.

In fact, they share their chassis and many mechanical parts with the tried-and-trusted Hangcha XF diesel counterbalance trucks. Uniquely amongst electric forklifts, they have a water-based cooling system – similar to those used in IC engines – for their motors and controllers. It enables intensive operation over long periods, without fear of overheating and related damage.

To minimise downtime and keep trucks working at their best, maintenance tasks are made easy. The service hood, which has a security lock, can be flipped back to give easy access for checks, top-ups and servicing. An MSD (maintenance service disconnect) switch simplifies power-down for safety when accessing systems.

For further confidence, the trucks’ continuous productivity is supported by HC Forklift UK’s nationwide network of 40+ specialist dealers. Each is ready and fully equipped to respond rapidly to any issue, with expert service backed by large parts stocks and a fast supply chain.

The trucks have proved to be highly reliable in extensive field tests, and customers have been delighted with their performance. They are well suited to demanding applications and work patterns, such as 24-hour parcel-handling and factory operations, as well as outdoor duties.

Refined comfort and behaviour

Ergonomic design features of the XH series include a large and comfortable operator space, wide views through the mast and fork carriage, and effective regenerative braking. A multifunctional display provides colour graphics, clear data and an interface for selection between three truck performance modes.

Operation is quiet and smooth, as well as clean and environmentally friendly. The latest electronic technologies, including automotive-grade permanent magnet controllers for the drive and hydraulic motors, ensure intuitive control and intelligent, refined behaviour. They provide sophisticated functions, like automatic deceleration when turning, load-sensing steering, and buffered raising, lowering and landing of the forks.

The ‘Plus’ for businesses

Together, the many performance, efficiency, durability and ergonomic superiorities of these innovative forklifts add up to a substantial advantage for businesses using them. Highlighting their extra capabilities, each of the high-voltage trucks is branded with a ‘Plus’ logo. In the coming months, industries can expect to see Hangcha XH trucks not only replacing existing electrics but taking over in applications previously dominated by IC engine forklifts.
