In response to consumer demand for more sustainable packaging materials Storopack’s AIRplus® Bio air cushions are now certified bio home compostable. The film demonstrates that environmentally conscious packaging is possible by fulfilling the definitions of bioplastic, partly bio-based and compostable, it consists of the renewable resource starch. These air cushions made of organic film deliver outstanding packaging characteristics and are ideal for protecting light to medium weight products in the box during transport.

As a leading global packaging supplier Storopack is dedicated to developing sustainable, innovative and high-quality packaging products for a wide range of industries and generates more than 35% of its in-house manufactured products from sustainable or recycled materials. By 2025 this will increase to over 50%.

With a pioneering research and development team at its head office in Metzingen, Germany, Storopack understands the importance of good product design, the necessity to make its packaging products eco-friendlier and to avoid excess packaging and unnecessary use of resources. The film is certified by TÜV Austria for home composting. End consumers can simply dispose of the air cushions alongside organic waste on home compost heaps. The microculture of the compost fully converts the organic film into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass, thus reducing plastic waste by closing the natural cycle. In addition, it is compatible with all AIRplus® void film systems.
